Tinker Foundation

Stanford University is one of five major universities (with Chicago, Columbia, UT-Austin, and Wisconsin) to have a professorship endowed by the Edward Larocque Tinker Foundation.

The Tinker Foundation’s generous endowment has allowed CLAS to host more than 100 residences of distinguished scholars at Stanford University since 1982. These residencies allow for collaboration and relationship building with colleagues from Latin America. Tinker Visiting Professorship has led to a number of joint scholarly events and publications with Stanford faculty as well as providing local contacts for graduate students doing fieldwork in the region.

Our Tinker Visiting Professorship has opened a productive and ongoing dialogue between our faculty and students and a network of distinguished scholars and practitioners in Latin America.
