Latin American Perspectives Lectureship

Nominations from Stanford Faculty for Academic Year 2025-26  are due April 15, 2025

Thanks to the generous sponsorship from donors of the Latin American Perspectives Journal, Stanford’s Center for Latin American Studies welcomes nominations by Stanford faculty to bring junior and senior Latin Americanist scholars to campus for short term  (one week) to lecture, teach, and do research at Stanford.

Latin American Perspectives (LAP) Lecturers are selected by a faculty committee on the basis of academic qualifications, the quality of research plans, and the relevance to the Center's mission.  Preference is given to scholars of traditionally underrepresented groups who have recently published in the Latin American Perspectives Journal (http://latinamericanperspectives.com/).

During their visit, LAP Lecturers are required to give a public lecture and are expected to conduct research and engage in the academic life of CLAS and their nominator's department.  Past LAP Lecturers have also engaged in further academic activities such as leading a graduate students workshop on their area of expertise, or teaching or co-teaching a one unit course with a Stanford faculty.

Appointees receive a round trip economy class airfare, one week lodging, and a modest stipend.

Stanford Libraries access will be provided. Office facilities at CLAS and/or at the nominator's department may be available..
