I was born in Quito, Ecuador, and I am currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry within the Faculty of Science at the University of Chile. I earned my B.Sc. in Chemistry from San Francisco University in Quito, and completed my Ph.D. in Chemistry at Oregon State University, where I developed novel analytical approaches for processing environmental samples from highly polluted sites in the United States. My first postdoctoral training took place at the Aquatic Contaminants Research Division of Environment and Climate Change Canada in Burlington, Ontario. I then pursued a second postdoctoral position at the Center for Environmental Science at the University of Chile.

My research focuses on the analysis of organic and inorganic trace contaminants. I am particularly interested in investigating the chemical factors that shape the exposome of individuals living in urban and rural areas across Chile's diverse and extreme environments, including the Atacama Desert, Patagonia, and Antarctica. Currently, I serve as President of the Chilean Society of Environmental Chemistry, where our mission is to connect researchers nationwide who are working to identify both legacy and emerging environmental critical sites across Chile.
