Spanish Teachers Seminar

The Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS) and the Stanford World Language Project (SWLP) invite new and experienced Spanish language teachers to join this professional development course tailored to the pedagogical needs of the Spanish classroom.

"Strand Ñ" of the 2025-26 Seminars for World Language Teachers

Dates: October 25, December 6, 2025 and January 24, March 7, March 28, 2026
Time: 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Location: On campus at Stanford University CERAS Building

In this strand, educators will build on the basics of lesson planning for the Spanish classroom, but with increased focus on "High Leverage Teaching Practices" regarding teaching content, culture, interpersonal communication, grammar structures, usage of authentic texts, and providing feedback, all with the aim of guiding students from the novice level proficiency into the intermediate levels and beyond. This strand is targeted towards Spanish teachers and will be conducted in Spanish. Each session of the strand will feature a guest talk by a Stanford-affiliated scholar.
