Message about DACA from CLAS Director Alberto Diaz-Cayeros

September 4, 2017

Dear friends and colleagues,

I write as director of Stanford’s Center for Latin American Studies to urge our Latin Americanist community to reflect on the serious consequences that the end of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program would mean to many people we know and with whom we interact.

Several college and university leaders across the country have spoken up in favor of continuing the DACA program, including Presidents of Harvard University and Duke University as well as our own Stanford University, as have entrepreneurs and business leaders from across the country.

In closing, I would like to share with all of you my own reflections in the following piece that I recently published in my medium space.

With best regards,
Alberto Díaz-Cayeros
