Ayacucho Fellowships

The Ayacucho Fund was established with a generous gift from the Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho Foundation to give full fellowships to Latin American graduate students at Stanford University. Awards cover tuition plus a stipend for one academic year.

Eligibility

Open to Latin American graduate  and professional school students, with preference given to qualified Venezuelan candidates. Students must be in good standing at Stanford University.

Application Process

Applicants to the M.A. in Latin American Studies need only indicate on their graduate school application that they wish to be considered for financial aid. No separate application for the Ayacucho fellowship is necessary.

Applicants who are not applying to the M.A. in Latin American Studies must submit a completed application form, academic transcripts (need not be official); a letter of support from a faculty advisor, and a statement of academic goals.

Selection Criteria

Applications are reviewed by an interdisciplinary committee of faculty members affiliated with the Center for Latin American Studies.

First priority is given to qualified Venezuelan applicants to the M.A. in Latin American Studies, followed by M.A.-LAS candidates from other Latin American nations. Latin American students in other Stanford Humanities and Sciences graduate programs, followed by Latin American students in Stanford professional programs, will also be considered.

Duration: One academic year.
