Outreach: Stanford Library Access for Latin American Research

CLAS and Stanford University Libraries offer remote library access to SUL's online database for faculty from 2- or 4-year institutions to conduct research relating to Latin America.

Our Mission

The Center for Latin American Studies (CLAS) is Stanford University’s hub for interdisciplinary research on the region. We are committed to evidence-based rigorous investigation and teaching that highlights the complexity of Latin America and its many interacting components. Following the university's founding grant, CLAS seeks to “promote the public welfare by exercising an influence on behalf of humanity and civilization.” We further this goal through advanced scholarship on the region across different fields of study.

Dr. Ernesto Domínguez López is a professor of history at the University of Havana, Cuba, and was a Tinker Visiting Professor at Stanford University. In this 22-minute video, he discusses the history of relations between the United States and Cuba from the early 1800s until today.
